About us
The Cardiff Law School Pro Bono Scheme was set up in the academic year 2005/6 and officially launched on 5 April 2006 by Michael Napier QC at the twelfth annual Ewan Davies lecture, while the Cardiff Law School Innocence Project was launched on 16th February 2006 by Shami Chakrabarti, then Director of Liberty.
The Director of the Environmental Law Foundation Cardiff Clinic, and co-director of the Environmental Justice Unit, is Professor Ben Pontin. A specialist in environmental law, with supporting interests in constitutional law and tort, Ben’s approach to both research and teaching in these fields mixes ‘doctrinal’ and ‘socio-legal’ perspectives, with a particular emphasis on the historical context of current developments. Ben is reviews editor of the Journal of Environmental Law (Oxford University Press) and managing editor of Environmental Law and Management (Lawtext Publishing).
A Cardiff student contributed research for ELF’s Local urgency on the Climate Emergency? report.
