ELF was contacted by a local campaigner following the felling of 13 acres of replanted ancient woodland (PAWS) in the South Downs National Park (SDNP). This woodland was rich in flora and fauna before it was cleared without authorisation – the owner has ignored enforcement notices and a stop notice (to remove waste which has arrived on the site). This matter has now been taken over by the SDNP authority who are determined to enforce these notices.
The Forestry Commission has issued a replanting notice and our clients are now waiting for counsel’s suggestions.
