National events

ELF organises at least two major events each year to raise awareness about specific aspects of environmental law.

Our annual Professor David Hall Lecture is held in honour of one of the original founders of ELF, David Hall, who sadly passed away in 1999. We alternate between inviting an environmentalist and a legal expert to give the lecture each year, maintaining ELF's strong commitment to interdisciplinarity. In recent years, speakers have included Lord Justice Brooke and the well-known environmentalist, George Monbiot.

Regional events

Our Community Outreach team provides seminars and workshops throughout the UK and each event offers an opportunity to look at local issues, discuss possible solutions and consider the best action to take. ELF's Outreach events generally include participation from ELF solicitors, barristers and technical specialists, who are local to the area and on hand to give professional advice. Many events are run jointly with organisations with complementary interests, such as Planning Aid, Friends of the Earth and the Civic Trust.
